EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING SUPPORT

How do I know that this package is right for my family?

My child struggles with organization. Their backpack is a mess and is never by the door ready to go in the morning. Their binder and/or folders are even more disorganized. Papers are in the wrong section and hole punches are torn. Many papers, some graded, some that were supposed to be turned in, are floating at the bottom of their backpack with leftover food from lunch. Not only is completing homework a struggle, simply knowing what’s due when is causing tension in our household. My child insists on completing homework or studying on their bed or in front of the TV and has never really learned how to study for a quiz or test. My child is unaware of their grades and missing assignments and/or potential retakes. They are hesitant to reach out to teachers because it’s hard to find time or know what to say. Overall, my child needs help with self-monitoring, planning ahead and meeting goals.

  • Goal setting support and strategies with parent(s) and child
  • Creation of:
    • Organizational tools and assistance in implementing a system to manage short and long-term assignments, quizzes and tests

CLASSROOM SUPPORT:

How do I know that this package is right for my family?

I keep hearing from my child’s teachers that they are concerned. It may be academic, it may be behavioral. The teachers have tried to motivate my child but it isn’t working. I need help advocating for my child and communicating with the school so I understand what’s really going on and how my child can be more successful. I want someone to assist the teachers in creating a positive incentive plan by addressing the exact areas of concern in a measurable and observable way with motivational rewards. I want someone to go into the classroom to get a second opinion on what is happening and why their teachers are concerned. I need support when it comes to parent-teacher conferences or special education meetings so that I am prepared, confident and heard.

Available services include:

  • Consultation with parent(s) regarding academic, behavioral and social emotional concerns and strengths
  • Collaboration with child, parent(s) and teacher(s) in creation of positive incentive plans for school use
  • Consultation with teacher(s) about student progress and performance
  • Observation of child in classroom setting(s)
  • Creation of personalized Google classroom to provide support in various subjects
  • Attendance at parent/teacher conferences, 504 meetings, IEP meetings and debriefing session with parent(s)
  • Additional services as needed

FAMILY SUPPORT:

How do I know that this package is right for my family?

I’m a parent, but I feel like I’m expected to understand the educational system like a teacher. I am concerned about my child, but I don’t really know where to begin in terms of helping them. I worry that they’re not completing homework or studying effectively for tests. My child is just not motivated by grades and I need help creating and implementing an incentive plan that matches my values. I need help reviewing my child’s grades and test scores to see exactly where the breakdown is occurring.  I wonder if my child has a learning disability or ADHD but I don’t even know where to begin. I have already gotten an educational evaluation either privately or through the school, but I don’t really understand the implications of the results. How do I communicate these results to the school and get the accommodations and services my child needs in order to be successful? Now that my child has a 504 plan or an IEP, how do I know that it meets my child’s needs? As a parent, I need support so that I can support my child.

Available services include:

  • Consultation with parent(s) regarding academic, behavioral and social emotional concerns and strengths and facilitation of parent/child goal setting
  • Address homework and studying concerns and create a schedule and incentive plan for success
  • Review and discuss school-based and private educational evaluations to help parent(s) better understand application of information in the classroom and next steps
  • Assistance for parent(s) pursuing specialized education plans (IEPs or 504 plans) based on child’s needs
  • Review 504 plans and IEPs to help parent(s) better understand services, accommodations and goals and advice on next steps
  • Assist parent(s) in preparation for parent/teacher conferences, 504 meetings, IEP meetings
  • Review teacher feedback, test scores and grades with parent(s) to address areas of concern and formulate a plan for how to advocate for your child
  • Creation of at-home incentive plans to address desired changes in behavior using a parent-directed reward system
  • Additional services as needed
